Filmed almost entirely on Miyako Island! Almost all the staff and cast are locals!

The warmth of the people of Miyako Island made this amazing film possible.

The lead actress, Yasuko Honnaga, played the grandmother role in this film. It was her first time acting in a movie, and she had no prior experience! Despite the immense pressure, she did an amazing job, acting as a grandmother

raised in the city, yet born and raised in Miyako Island.

During filming, there were restrictions on using the local dialect, but she persevered and kept challenging herself without giving up, impressing all of us with her resilience.

This is a testament to the beauty of challenging oneself.

About the main character, Yukiko Yamanaka... from the original author

This is not a story about a grandmother like this.
Actually, this story is based on a real person (lol).
There is an older lady who is a good friend of mine, and the more I listened to her story, the more I was intrigued by her way of life.
"I am unattractive and prefer to be alone than with others. That's why I spend all my time watching TV," she says. Thanks to her love of talk shows, the way she speaks, the way she pauses... she's almost as good as a comedian. But she insists that she can't imagine being in front of an audience.
When I told her I wanted to make a video of it, she said, “No one would ever watch that! (lol) She really doesn't think she has any appeal.
I thought about what I could do to repay her, and I decided that the best thing I could do was to pass on her life story to the next generation. I decided that the best way I can give back is to pass on her life story.
So this time, I have recreated the real lady as much as possible, or rather, as perfectly as possible. What Yukiko-san says in the film is almost exactly what she herself said (lol). I hope you will enjoy this work from that perspective as well.
