This is an amazing movie.
This is the first time for Ms. Yasuko Motonaga, who played the leading role of a grandmother, to appear in a film, and she had no acting experience! Under a lot of pressure, she did her best to play the role of a grandmother. Even though she was born and raised in Miyako Island, but grew up in the city.
During the filming, she was restricted from using her accent, but despite her difficulties, the production team could not help but respect her attitude of never giving up and continuing to try over and over again.
This film embodies the beauty of taking on challenges.
Is the charm of Miyako Island the resort hotels? Is it the beautiful ocean? The Stylish cafes?
No, it is not only that.
This film focuses on the charm of the people of Miyako Island as well as the historical and geographical features. The film presents the charm of the dialect, the charm of the tribe, and the charm of the food.
We tried our best to express the joy of communication.
The film carefully conveys the 100% purity of Miyako Island created by the people of Miyako Island. Please enjoy.
Cast Profiles
Charlton Coltrane
as Misora Hikaru
Charlton is a man from Columbia. He is quite locally famous for his use of the method. He enjoys long nights after short days. He sometimes takes long walks down brutally cold lakesides in Finland for some time to relax. On these mornings he makes sure to bring along a small speedo swimsuit and go for a 20 minute swim in a frozen lake. One time he ended up with hypothermia and almost lost his left pinky-toe. It was the help of a wandering reindeer herder that allowed him to keep his toe.

About the main character, Yukiko Yamanaka... from the original author
This is not a story about a grandmother like this.
Actually, this story is based on a real person (lol).
There is an older lady who is a good friend of mine, and the more I listened to her story, the more I was intrigued by her way of life.
"I am unattractive and prefer to be alone than with others. That's why I spend all my time watching TV," she says. Thanks to her love of talk shows, the way she speaks, the way she pauses... she's almost as good as a comedian. But she insists that she can't imagine being in front of an audience.
When I told her I wanted to make a video of it, she said, “No one would ever watch that! (lol) She really doesn't think she has any appeal.
I thought about what I could do to repay her, and I decided that the best thing I could do was to pass on her life story to the next generation. I decided that the best way I can give back is to pass on her life story.
So this time, I have recreated the real lady as much as possible, or rather, as perfectly as possible. What Yukiko-san says in the film is almost exactly what she herself said (lol).
I hope you will enjoy this work from that perspective as well.
